Google Sponsored VEX Robotics Girl Powered Robotics Workshop
This two-day workshop is a Google Sponsored VEX Robotics Girl Powered Robotics Workshop in collaboration with the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (REC Foundation) Foundation. In the VEX Robotics Competition, https://www.vexrobotics.com/vexedr/competition teams of students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge.
This is open to any girl who is a beginner or limited experience with robotics and would like more experience and learn more about designing, building robots and programming them. Team signups will be given higher priority over individual registrations. A mentor/teacher being part of the group is required. No prior experience is required for either the participant or the mentor. If you are an individual participant please indicate if a parent is able volunteer as one of the mentors for the event. The mentor should be an adult over the age of 18 and should be able to participate in the workshops on both days.
There will be a small fee of $50 per participant (no fees for mentors) for the two day workshop. This fee will be waived if you have any financial difficulty. Please indicate fee waiver request in the comment section of the form.
Google and REC will provide kits for the workshop and will have staff volunteers to support the teams throughout the event. On day 2 the teams will use the robots that they build to compete against each other and win cool prizes!. Lunch will be provided. You have to make your own travel and hotel arrangements.
