Free summer program at Spelman College
Spelman College, along with our Atlanta University Center (AUC) partners – Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College – are excited to announce the launch of our new summer program for students interested in exploring art history and curatorial studies. An August 2018 New York Times article highlighted the urgency American museums are placing on identifying and cultivating more people of color to take up leadership roles in the institutions that preserve, reflect on, and make decisions about the stories that are told through the presentation of art. The Atlanta University Center community feels particularly well-positioned to support students in exploring this exciting field. Our program offers a 4-week residential experience, at no cost, to introduce promising high school students to the discipline and to consider career opportunities. Students will work with professionals at Atlanta’s acclaimed High Museum of Art, accessing their extensive collections as part of our academically rigorous program. They will also have an opportunity to earn college credits.
